Game drives in the afternoon and night safaris in custom built game viewing vehicles provides visitors the chance to see the varied species which include cheetah, the magnificent Kalahari lion, leopard as well as giraffe and kudu. The elusive brown hyena has also been sighted on occasion. Night safaris reveal an amazing world of nocturnal species. Along with all this Deception Valley is also a bird lover's paradise.
Deception Valley Lodge is a mere 30 minutes by air from Maun, with its own airstrip a short 15 minute drive from the lodge. Most of the visitors opt to flyin by chartered light aircrafts from Maun.
However, tourists do drive down with a 4X4. Travel from Maun to Rakops on the A3 for 52km. At sign to Makhalamabedi turn right and drive 18km to Makhalamabedi veterinary fence. Turn right before going through fence and continue for 73km to Kuki Corner (Phefodia Foka), Turn right and continue for 23km to sign Deception Valley Lodge. Turn right into property.
Bushman interaction : The native naru speaking bushmen act as guides and help the visitors enjoy the true spirit of Kalahari in the most basic way. Visitors depart on guided walks after tea and get a demonstrtion of how the San track, hunt and gather their food. The visitors are treated to an absolute cultural immersion.
Game drives : The guides at the lodge have almost 40 years of experience in guiding the visitors through the Kalahari and know the desert like the back of their hand. A most enjoyable event are these game drives and definitely educational.
Night Safaris : Spot the saited animals huddling in groups and rest for the night or drink at the pool. And Bird Watching.

Special notes: the rate is based on 4 guests and not a per person rate. It is an exclusive freestanding private facility accommodating a maximum of 4 guests, children of all ages on request only.
The lodge is exclusively private and restful, accommodating a maximum of only 16 visitors at a time. Each split unit stands isolated from the others and is connected to the main lodge by wooden walkways. The main complex prides itself with a dining room, lounge and bar area have a inviting and cosy feel, being decorated in warm Kalahari colours which make use of Bushmen and other African artifacts. Enjoy an amazing view from the deck as you view game activity at the nearby water hole. A curio shop and small library are also included in the main complex. Indulge in the ethnic African theme as the entire lodge was build to fit into the bush setting without damaging, altering, or detracting from its original ambiance.
Take a dip in the swimming pool situated close to the main complex. The boma is a prominient feature during the cool African nights when visitors enjoy their dinner gazing across a clear African night sky.
